Acouphènes Québec is a non-profit organism for people suffering from tinnitus. Established in 1983 by a volunteers group, the organism aims to support people suffering from this problem, inform about the current state of knowledge in the domain and promote the multidisciplinary researches in Quebec.

A meeting will take place on May 14th, 2016. Sylvie Hébert, Ph. D. sits as president.

Tinnitus : a ghost in the head!

As part of the University of Montreal’s Beautiful Evenings, this conference will approach the recent scientific knowledge on the hearing and not hearing factors (ex. emotionals factors) involved in tinnitus and will present practical advices to live better with these intrusive sounds.

Please note that there will be an audio captation of the conference by Radio-Canada for a later broadcasting on “Première PLUS“. Furthermore, the Acouphènes Quebec members will benefit from a $15 reduced rate on admission.

10th International Tinnitus Research Initiative

10th International Tinnitus Research Initiative

The 10th International Tinnitus Research Initiative, TRI 2016 Conference, will be held in Nottingham, England, March 16-18, 2016. The focus of the TRI 2016 Conference is “Tinnitus: subtypes, mechanisms and interventions.” Over three days, the conference will explore basic mechanisms underlying tinnitus, as well as many areas of translational and clinical research.

The conference program includes keynote and invited speakers who are world leaders representing a range of disciplines. Keynote speakers include Professor Josef Rauschecker (Georgetown University), Professor Charles Liberman (Harvard Medical School), Professor Kari Friston (University College London), Professor Gerhard Andersson (Linkoeping University), Professor David Baguley (Cambridge University Hospitals) and Dr Winfried Schlee (University of Regensburg, Germany).

The TRI 2016 event is also the first conference of the EU COST Action (TINNET): a unique international network focusing on sub-typing tinnitus, identification of neural correlates, and effective diagnosis and management.
